As a demonstration of transparency, accountability and commitment to our people, today I had the honour of successfully delivering President Dr. William Samoei Ruto's financial support of Kshs. 2.5M to five football teams from Vihiga County.
This fulfills a pledge made by the President following my request during his recent tour of Vihiga County.
The beneficiary teams - Vihiga United FC, Luanda Villa Soccer Club, Vihiga Queens Football CLUB, Bunyore Starlets .F.C and Vihiga Sportiff FC - each received Kshs. 500,000 in a colourful ceremony held at Mumboha Grounds, Luanda Sub-County.
This milestone goes beyond financial assistance. It is a clear testament to our shared commitment to nurturing grassroots football, empowering our youth and building a stronger, more vibrant sporting culture in Vihiga.
It also sends a powerful message - that leadership is not just about making promises, but about honoring them with tangible, measurable results.
On behalf of the great people of Vihiga, I extend our sincere gratitude to H.E. the President for this timely support.
We remain optimistic and look forward to further support, including the provision of a team bus as pledged during the visit.
